Black Sun

Steven Kaye's irregularly updated blog

Here's the first test of mailing in blog posts. Hopefully Springmail doesn't do wacky things with line breaks. I'm e-mailing in this entry because my faithful iBook, Tekeli-li, has suffered a serious accident and its screen is broken. I'll bring it in this weekend and see how much it will cost to fix it. It's been a fun month all around - I found out my dad has Parkinson's Disease, my sister and brother-in-law both suspect they're going to be fired next month, a high school friend apparently died in January leaving behind a fiancée and two children and twenty of my colleagues got laid off at work. Oh, and my new boss may or may not be the fun individual I think of as The Backstabber, but nobody's actually communicated the new reporting structure in our organization now. In happier news:
  • Richard Morgan's science fiction novel Altered Carbon is pretty amazing for a first book, in terms of how thoroughly it develops the idea of digitized personae
  • My friend Lee might be visiting me later this year
  • I got to have lunch with my friend Tom from high school at a decent Chinese place
  • Jesse's girlfriend is apparently going to make an honest man out of him
More once I see how Blogger's formatted this post.
